The Bachelor: “Season 20 Premiere: Week 1”
A recap and review of The Bachelor: “Season 20 Premiere: Week 1”
For the first few years of my relationship with my girlfriend, now wife, I forced her to watch countless hours of basketball and football. Mind you, we had just one TV. After making her suffer for years, I finally gave in and watched The Bachelor with her….live. I’ve seen a couple of seasons now and I have to admit it’s not bad television. So this year I thought I would I would make it fun and follow along each week with my thoughts, my “Man Thoughts”. Buckle up and enjoy the ride with me this season.
The first week of any Bachelor/Bachelorette show consists of a couple of things: the limo introductions, the first impression rose, and of course a ton of eliminations. Below are my grades for the limo introductions:
Comment: Way too safe and gave Ben nothing to remember her by.
Comment: I thought the breaking bread was funny, but probably wasted an opportunity
Comment: The jump was a risky a move. Luckily it worked out.
Comment: Having a twin makes quite a first impression
Comment: Having a twin…..(see Emily)
Comment: While the onesy is memorable, not the best way to knock his socks off
Comment: She came off really well, and the wedding invite was clever and done in a non-creepy way
Comment: Her connection with Kaitlyn was interesting, thought she could’ve been a little more natural
Comment: Personality didn’t jump off the board.
Comment: Nothing special but didn’t make a bad impression
Comment: I’ll give her creativity points, but not sure if you want the man of your dreams remembering you with a horse’s head
Comment: I enjoyed the fake pick up line in order to be an actual pick up line.
Comment: Bold move with the kiss, but that might backfire
Comment: Having a nickname based on an amazing cupcake doesn’t get you brownie points (see what I did there 😉 )
Comment: Nice and sweet. The wings were a nice token for Ben to remember her.
Comment: Clever using the bouquet
Comment: You called yourself a stalker and didn’t even tell Ben your name
Comment: Came off well, yup that’s it
Comment: Had a gimmick and came off genuine
Comment: Didn’t even ride the horse, come on Maegan!
Comment: She had a gimmick….at least. She came out of the limo awkwardly and left awkwardly
Comment: She was confident and made Ben laugh
Comment: Ben seemed to like the hover board and she came off very natural
Comment: Seemed practically drunk with her flightiness, but I enjoyed her joke about legal briefs.
Comment: She definitely left Ben wanting more and thinking he’s going crazy
Comment: Came off cutesy nervous and Ben seemed to really like her
My Top 3 for Ben:
As I predicted, her cuteness is only matched by her personality. I didn’t see anything weird from her either.
Lauren B. and Ben seemed to have good chemistry throughout the episode, she’s also cute and not weird, always a plus
Becca and Ben or Benca? didn’t have much screen time tonight. But I still think that she’s a catch. Plus you know she’s not weird. Win, Win
I didn’t have much hope for Ben this season. I personally didn’t find him the least bit interesting on The Bachelorette. But he held his own and wasn’t a block of wood like Chris was last season. He also didn’t take no shit from Lace when she cornered him at the end of Week 1.
Forgive me if I’m wrong but normally the first episode is 3 hours right? I know they had The Bachelor Live which sort of started last year and it appears to continue into this year, but Week 1 seemed really rushed. Although 3 hours is too much, 2 just wasn’t enough, how about 2-1/2 next year people?
